Set up the proxy on iPhone and iPad
iOS lets you set an HTTP proxy with authentication for each Wi‑Fi network. It applies to Safari and most apps while you're on that network.
Step by step
- 1
Set the proxy protocol to HTTP in the client area: iOS doesn't support SOCKS5 in the Wi‑Fi settings.
- 2
Open Settings › Wi‑Fi and tap the (i) next to the network you're on.
- 3
Scroll to HTTP Proxy, tap Configure Proxy and choose Manual.
- 4
Enter the Server (host) and Port, turn on Authentication, type the username and password, then tap Save.
- 5
Open Safari and check the IP with the What is my IP tool.
Tips
- The proxy applies only to that Wi‑Fi network: on cellular data or another network it isn't used.
- To go back to a normal connection choose Off in Configure Proxy.
- Some apps ignore the system proxy: for those you need a dedicated proxy client app.
