Set up the proxy on Android
Android lets you set an HTTP proxy for each Wi‑Fi network, but with no username and password fields: the browser asks for credentials on the first page. For SOCKS5 or all apps you need a client app.
Step by step
- 1
Set the proxy protocol to HTTP in the client area.
- 2
Open Settings › Network & internet (or Connections) › Wi‑Fi and long-press the network, or tap its gear icon, then Edit.
- 3
Open Advanced options, set Proxy to Manual and enter the Proxy hostname (host) and Port. Save.
- 4
Open Chrome: on the first page a proxy sign-in prompt appears. Enter the username and password.
- 5
Check the IP with the What is my IP tool.
Tips
- Menu names differ between manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Pixel…), but the Proxy option is always in the Wi‑Fi network's advanced options.
- The Wi‑Fi proxy is used mainly by the browser: many apps ignore it. To route all traffic through the proxy, use a proxy client app with SOCKS5 and authentication support.
- The proxy applies only to that Wi‑Fi network, not to cellular data.
