Use the proxy in Firefox
Firefox has its own proxy settings, separate from the system's: perfect for using the proxy only in this browser. Use the HTTP protocol: Firefox doesn't ask for username and password with SOCKS5 proxies.
Step by step
- 1
In the client area set the proxy protocol to HTTP.
- 2
In Firefox open Settings, search for “proxy”, then click “Settings…” under Network Settings.
- 3
Choose “Manual proxy configuration”, enter host and port under “HTTP Proxy” and tick “Also use this proxy for HTTPS”.
- 4
Click OK and open any website: Firefox asks for the proxy's username and password. Enter them and, if you like, let it remember them.
- 5
Check your new IP by visiting a site such as whatismyipaddress.com.
Tips
- To go back to the normal connection choose “No proxy” in the same settings.
- If you use several proxies in parallel, create a Firefox profile for each (about:profiles).
