VPN (WireGuard and OpenVPN)
Use the proxy as a VPN with WireGuard
Every ProxyHub proxy is also a WireGuard VPN: all the device's traffic, apps included, goes out through the same mobile IP as the proxy. On a phone you just scan a QR code; on a computer you import a file.
Step by step
- 1
In the client area open your proxy and scroll down to the VPN section.
- 2
Press “New WireGuard”: the QR code, the button to download the .conf file and the configuration text appear.
- 3
Install the official WireGuard app: App Store on iPhone and Mac, Google Play on Android, wireguard.com on Windows and Linux.
- 4
On a phone: tap “+” in the app, choose “Create from QR code” (Android: “Scan from QR code”) and scan the QR from the client area.
- 5
On a computer: download the .conf file and choose “Import tunnel(s) from file” in the app.
- 6
Turn the tunnel on and open ProxyHub's What is my IP page: your proxy's mobile IP should appear.
sudo apt install wireguard
sudo cp proxyhub.conf /etc/wireguard/proxyhub.conf
sudo wg-quick up proxyhub
# Check: it should answer with the proxy's mobile IP
curl https://api.ipify.org
# To disconnect
sudo wg-quick down proxyhubTips
- Use each configuration on one device at a time: two devices with the same WireGuard key keep knocking each other offline.
- DNS is already set in the file: site names are resolved by us, not by your Internet provider.
- WireGuard runs over UDP (port 51820): if a corporate network or public Wi‑Fi blocks UDP, use the HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy or another network.
- With “Rotate IP” or the rotation link the VPN stays connected: new connections go out with the new IP.
- To redo the configuration delete the existing one and press “New WireGuard” again: devices using the old one disconnect right away.
